Professor Terryann Clark co-chairs Te Tatau Kitenga (advisory group for Te Whatu Ora) with Dr Bridget Farrant in a project that aims to enhance the current school-based health services. The programmes will enhance school-based health services (SBHS) in secondary schools through Aotearoa. The programme aims to make SBHS to be more effective and efficient and improve outcomes for young people and improve equitable health outcomes. We are focused on better meeting the needs of populations currently not well served by the health system – including rangatahi Māori, Pacific young people, rainbow young people, young people in care and young people with disability.

Foundational to the development of SBHS extension, is the development of Te Ūkaipō – an Indigenous model designed to support the delivery of services.  Te Ūkaipō enables a Te Tiriti based and Māori-centric approach to enhance the experience of SBHS for young people. SBHS are being supported by Te Rōpū  Mātanga o Rangatahi (Maori expert advisory roopu),  and a Youth Advisory Roopu. The programme has three distinct parts: workforce development,  model of care and evaluation and monitoring.
